Does Harvard have access to the online version of the New York Times?
Answer
Harvard affiliates can get full-text access to the current New York Times through Factivaor LexisNexis Academic. Law School affiliates can also get access through Lexis.
To browse the current days news in Factiva click on the "News Pages" tab at the top of the page. Choose "United States" in the drop-down menu, and links to articles from major news sources will appear on the right side of the page. Scroll down to the New York Times, then use the drop-down menus under the title to select the date and section you want to read.
To find older articles on a particular topic, you can search for and retrieve articles back to June 1, 1980 through either Lexis, LexisNexis Academic or Factiva. They are updated daily.
You can also access Times articles electronically from 1851- 2005 through New York Times Proquest Historical Newspapers.
The nytimes.com is not offering digital subscriptions to libraries at this time, so we can't subscribe. We know that our patrons also want the convenience of reading the Times in this format online, so we are investigating our options.
