There is a bug in Canvas regarding the appointment cancelation notification. Even if Appointment Cancelation notification is tuned on in your account, you will still not receive cancelation notification e-mails unless you also turn on the Student Appointment Signups notification. By default the later is set to "Never" in your account. In general it is best practice to turn on all Scheduler notifications if you are using appointment groups in your Canvas course.
